The Crime Branch of Ahmedabad City Police has successfully apprehended the individual responsible for the recent kidnapping of a four-year-old girl from Raikhad area of the city. The accused had abducted the child four days ago with malicious intent. Fortunately, the girl was found within 24 hours of her disappearance, leading to the subsequent arrest of the suspect based on CCTV footage.
On June 2, the girl, who was sleeping on the footpath near Raikhad Char Rasta, was abducted in the early morning hours. Following the incident, the girl’s father lodged a complaint with Gaekwad Haveli police station.
The Crime Branch team led by PI MB Kataria, PSI DJ Lakum, Head Constables Narendra Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Nagarajbhai, Raviraj Singh and Arvindbhai, took swift action to locate the accused. The suspect, identified as Bagdaram alias Bagaram alias Prakash Chelaji Ajbaji Prajapati, a 40-year-old man originally from Jhalor district of Rajasthan, was finally apprehended today. He currently leads a nomadic life on the outskirts of Raikhad Darwaza, Ahmedabad.
In a conversation with Vibes of India, PI MB Katariya revealed that the accused did not harm the girl but had abducted her with ill intentions. As the morning traffic increased and there was no secluded place to hide, he abandoned the girl on the footpath near Relief Road, Kalupur when she started crying. This led the police to the suspect.
Regarding the accused’s past criminal history, PI Katariya said, “In 2009/2010, his involvement in as many as seven vehicle thefts in Ahmedabad came to light. There is no one in his family. He lives a lonely and miserable life.”
