Ahmedabad Man Booked for Posting Wife’s Private Videos Online After Divorce Demand

| Updated: February 3, 2025 16:05

A man in Ahmedabad has been accused of posting private videos of his 21-year-old wife online after she sought a divorce, police said on Sunday.

The couple, who had been married for a year, had been living separately for some time. The woman had returned to her parents’ home due to ongoing marital difficulties.

After informing her husband of her decision to seek a divorce, the man allegedly uploaded intimate videos and images of her on his Instagram account, accompanied by obscene comments.

According to the woman’s complaint, both she and her husband had been using the same Instagram account, accessing it from their respective phones. Despite the separation, her husband retained access to the account after she moved to her parents’ home.

The couple continued to communicate through video calls. During one of these calls, the woman showed her husband that a skin allergy she had been experiencing had cleared up. The man allegedly referred to her as “a patient” before abruptly ending the call, with no further communication following.

After deciding not to return to her marital home and formally seeking a divorce, the woman discovered that her husband had allegedly posted private videos of her online. She immediately lodged a complaint with the local police, leading to the registration of a case.

The police have registered charges for criminal intimidation, insult, and defamation under Sections 351(2) and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Sections 66(e) and 67 of the IT Act.
