Gujarat: Ahmedabad’s Underground Museum Depicting City’s History In Shadows Since Built

| Updated: December 18, 2021 08:39

AMC spent Rs 5 crores to build a hall-cum-museum in the Bhadra area about seven years ago, however, the property has never been used since.

Civic Body Officials have no knowledge of its existence and the place has never even been rented out.

The museum was constructed to depict Ahmedabad’s history as a part of the Bhadra Redevelopment Project but AMC has not even included it in its list of halls and auditoriums.

Bhadra Project

AMC had prepared a plan in three phases in 2010 to develop the area surrounding the Bhadra Fort and the area was notified as a no-vehicle zone.

AMC spent Rs 32 crores on the first phase which was started in 2010 and was completed in 2014. The total cost of the project including all three phases was Rs 92 crore. Due to the first phase getting delayed, the following phases had to be cancelled.
