Remember the notorious Parshva Shah, a much married biker who molested young school girls in the city and was nabbed after Amdavadis united to identify him and sound the police?
Kudos to Ahmedabad Police that one such pervert has been arrested. Anandnagar police inspector D B Mehta has arrested a 28 year old pervert who has confessed to molesting children. The police inspector cracked the case using technology and human inputs in an efficient manner.
A police complaint was registered in Anandnagar police station after a 10th standard girl was molested at a much crowded traffic signal in the posh Jodhpur area of the city.
The pervert was on a motorcycle and wore a helmet. When the traffic lights turned red, he inappropriately touched the young teenager who was on her way for her tuition classes on her cycle. The girl belonging to a respectable family in Satellite area obviously did not know how to react. She cycled back home, broke down and narrated her ordeal to her mother. Later on the girl’s father registered a police complaint. The incident took place about five days ago.
Unfortunately for the police, the case was very difficult because first the molester was wearing a helmet. Secondly, the CCTV at Jodhpur, near MJ farm did not capture the bike number.
However, D B Mehta, a sensitive police officer did not give up. Using CCTV footage of nearby areas, he found out that this man had gone towards Shyamal Cross Roads. Using human intelligence and sources, the police inspector nabbed 28 year old, much married Shoaib.
The traumatised girl who refused to attend school and tuition classes or move out of her home has got some assurance after the pervert has been arrested. Initially, the police had registered a complaint against an unknown man.
According to D B Mehta, the policeman who cracked the case, “we checked all CCTV footage and referred to CCTV of four nearby areas. We found images of a man on a motorcycle wearing a helmet that led him to an electric company office.”
It was from here that Shoaib Yakub Sheikh, a 28 year old married and sexually perverted man was arrested. Shoaib is a resident of Makarba road. He lives near Mastan Bawa Dargah falling under Sarkhej. He has studied upto standard 12 and is employed by an electricity company in its marketing department.
Shoaib has confessed to his crime of not only molesting the 10th standard student but to having done so on a regular basis for the last many years.
