As many as 53 cases were registered on Sunday by the traffic department and in its week long drive against juvenile drivers, the department has collected a total of Rs 1.22 lakh. A total of 21 vehicles were detained by the cops.
On December 18, a 15-year-old boy riding his father’s scooter to school got mowed down by by an AMTS bus after which all 14 traffic police stations had undertaken the drive.
On day one, a total of 10 cases were registered and a fine of Rs 20,000 was collected. In many of the cases, the teenagers told the police that they had forgotten the licence at home while some said they had no money to pay the fine.
