Ahmedabad’s SVPI Airport Initiative For Employee Well-Being and Safety

| Updated: February 15, 2024 13:02

When the world was celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad dedictaed the day to employee health, well-being, and safety. Three engaging events were held as part of the special day: a helmet safety drive, an oral and dental hygiene awareness session, and a fire safety training.

Emphasising road safety, all airport employees participated in a two-wheeler helmet awareness campaign. The initiative involved a bike rally starting from Terminal 2, passing by the iconic Sardar Patel statue, Flag circle, and Airport circle, before culminating at Terminal 1’s departure area. Participants pledged to follow traffic rules and wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, promoting their safety and that of others.

Led by doctors from Apollo Hospital, the oral and dental hygiene session aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption on oral health. Participants learned about common issues like tooth decay, bleeding gums, and bad breath, and received valuable information on mouth cancer, its causes, and prevention strategies. Over 100 employees from various departments, including airlines, ground handling agencies, and security, actively participated in this beneficial initiative.

Similarly, to equip the airport staff with essential fire safety knowledge, a dedicated training session was conducted. This informative session, combined with practical demonstrations, were aimed at empowering them to respond effectively in case of any unforeseen fire incident, ensuring the safety of themselves and others within the airport environment.

The diverse initiatives addressed crucial aspects, demonstrating the airport’s commitment to its workforce and fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
