 Already Owning 220+ Hypermarkets and Malls, Lulu Group Seeks to Expand More

UAE-headquartered Lulu Group already has 5 malls in the country, located in  Kochi, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Lucknow; and now it wants to expand more by opening outlets in Chennai, Hyderaba,d and Ahmedabad as well.


In a conversation with Shibu Philips, Director- Shopping Malls, Lulu Group India, it was known that Rs 5,000 crore have been already invested for the development of the first five malls, out of which four have already become operational. The last one, at Lucknow is predicted to become operational soon.  He further shared that their expansion is not limited to this, as they plan to open more outlets in new states and also, in the ones they are already present. As of now the Lulu group, is aiming to open three more malls, in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The estimates say that Rs2,000 shall be invested in the Ahmedabad venture ,and Rs3,500 in the Chennai one. Currently, attention is being paid to the inauguration of the mall in Lucknow which expands over 20 lakh sq ft and has an 11-screen PVR Superplex which shall be launched later this year. The food court consists of 25 brand outlets, with a capacity of 1600 in respect to seating arrangements.The mall will additionally also have a Lulu Group-owned Funtura and HyperMarket.  


The enterprise has 220 plus hypermarkets and shopping malls as of now that are spread across Egypt, India, the Middle East, and Malaysia. They also have a global workforce over 57,000 employees
