Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Friday added 21 more Covid-19 micro containment zones in the city, taking the latest tally to 141.
As many as 151 houses with a population of 498 were declared as micro containment zone on Friday, the AMC informed Vibes of India (VoI).
The corporation identifies micro containment zones in areas that are seemingly Covid hotspot due to a large number of cases being recorded there and imposes restrictions to curb the further spread of virus.
The drive of identifying micro containment zones was started again in November, as the city began to see an uptick in coronavirus cases. The drive has now gained more steam with the surge of cases brought on about by the Omicron variant. The practice of identifying the micro containment zones was discontinued in May last year.
