The state government owned 81 lakes which it has now decided to allocate to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The AMC will take up the Lake Development and Welfare Development work on a large scale. The main aim behind this decision by Bhupendra Patel was to increase the well-being of citizens.
The 81 lakes include 11 of Ramol, 10 of Vatva, 7 of Vastral, 5 of Narol, 3 of Ranip, 3 of Nikol among others.
The 81 lakes allocated to Municipal Corporation by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel will undergo lake development by AMC to create recreational place for citizens.
Some of the intended changes include walkways around lakes, plantations, children’s play area, sitting arrangements for senior citizens, sports equipment, protection wall surrounding the lake, inlet,stone pitching around the outlet, parking area, paver block, floating fountain, boundary wall etc.
This is not all as mini sewage plants and storm water lines to maintain water in the lakes so that these lakes stay full for the time period of a year will also be seen to. Percolation wells will also be constructed to raise the ground water level by accumulating water from the lakes.
The lake enhancement will be carried out from the 15th Finance Commission Grant, Amrut Mission Grant and Swarnim Jayanti Mukyamantri Shaeri Vikas Yojana received by AMC from the state government.
