The son of a former BJP leader, arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, has got bail. The police arrested him in Ahmedabad on July 27.
According to police, Purushottam Patel (25), a resident of Abhinandan Society in Ghatlodiya, was arrested by a team of Vastrapur police station outside the National Institute of Design (NID). He was reportedly in an inebriated condition. He is the son of Nolesh Patel, former BJP president of the Ghatlodia ward.
According to the police, Patel was found driving the car in an inebriated state along with his friend Vismay Gajjar at around 5.30 am on July 27. As per police, the Kia Seltos, the vehicle of the accused person, was intercepted at around 5:30 am in the NID circle. Patel was found in an intoxicated state. The accused was unable to walk or speak properly. We asked for a liquor permit, which Patel could not produce. His friend Vismay Gajjar was calm and no incriminating evidence was found from him. The vehicle was confiscated and Patel was arrested. ,
A senior officer of the Vastrapur police station told the media that Patel got bail on Thursday. Patel was booked under section 66 of the Prohibition Act and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Purushottam Patel’s father Nolesh Patel is a former BJP leader who rebelled against his party in the 2010 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections after he was denied ticket.
