| Updated: September 26, 2022 19:26

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday visited Gujarat to inaugurate developmental projects of over 1100 crores in the State. This includes a 500-bed hospital in Sanand, Bhadaj Overbridge constructed near Science City, Virochannagar Primary Health Centre and Milan Kendra-Samaj Wadi and newly constructed South West Zone office.

Union Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupendra Yadav and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameshwar Teli were present on the occasion.

500-bed hospital in Sanand

Amit Shah graced the foundation stone laying ceremony of ESIC Plot SM 45, GIDC Sanand, Ahmedabad. He said, “Bhupendra Patel is not just a BJP member and the CM of Gujarat, he is also my friend. He took the decision to build a 500-bed hospital in Sanand. This multi-speciality hi-tech hospital is open to villagers and for the people of Sanand. The hospital will cost Rs 500 crores but it is all worth it for the welfare of our people. People from Orissa to Bihar also come here with their family for employment and this hospital will cater to all of them.”

He said this 350-bed hospital would have many modern facilities including OPD, indoor facilities, X-ray, radiology, laboratory, Operation Theatre, obstetrics, ICU and ultrasound. This hospital will benefit about 12 lakh workers and their family members from Sanand.

Medical colleges in Gujarat

Amit Shah said there were only 387 medical colleges in the country in 2013-14 and PM Modi has helped increase their number to 596 in 2021-22. “The government led by our PM has also increased the number of MBBS seats from 51,000 to 89,000. The Modi government also increased the Post Graduate seats from 31,000 to 60,000.”

Apart from this, free health facilities up to Rs. 5 lakh have been provided to 60 crore people under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Farmers conference

While attending farmers conference Amit Shah said, “Narmada water has finally reached our farmers and it has helped them develop three different types of crops. Congress always wanted to sabotage Narmada yojna, it is only the vision and work of our PM Narendrabhai Modi that made it possible to bring Narmada water to our farmers. This Diwali, I request our farmers to use more ghee in making kansar. We already have acche din.”
