Punjab Police detained Kirandeep Kaur, wife of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh, at Shri Guru Ram Dass International Airport in Amritsar while she was attempting to board a flight to London. The arrest came as the police failed to apprehend Amritpal Singh, a fugitive Khalistani leader who has been on the run for over a month.
Despite conducting searches in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and the border areas with Nepal, the police have been unable to locate him.
Authorities suspect that Amritpal Singh may be hiding in villages along the borders of Punjab-Haryana or Punjab-Rajasthan.
After evading the police on March 18, Amritpal Singh released a video on March 29, claiming that he had managed to escape and was safe.
