Close on the heels of the popular online game, Cyberpunk 2077, comes a 10-episode mini-series on Netflix. The trailer of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” was released on June 9. The series airs onwards September. This Japanese anime based on a video game fuses action, sci-fi, and fantasy anime into an altogether different package.
“Cyberpunk 2077” is an action role-playing video game developed and published by CD Projekt. The story takes place in Night City, an open world set in the Cyberpunk universe. Players assume the first-person perspective of a customizable mercenary known as V, who can acquire skills in hacking and machinery.
This fiction narrates a street kid’s survival in a future city with advanced technology and bodily alteration. Despite his life on the knife, he decides to stay and become an edge runner, a mercenary lawbreaker.
Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the director of the “Kill la Kill,” the developer of the video game, CD Projekt Red, is the also creator of the anime series. Screenplay writers Masahiko Otsuka and Yoshiki Usa have been deployed to pen a script based on the story furnished by CD Projekt Red.
