The much-anticipated film “Article 370”, starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani, hit theatres today, February 23rd. Directed by National Award-winning Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the movie delves into the PMO’s decision to revoke the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Modi himself endorsed the film, noting its potential to educate audiences on the complexities of Article 370. Speaking at a rally in Jammu, he remarked that such cinematic endeavors are valuable for disseminating accurate information to the public.

PM Modi, addressing a rally in Jammu on February 20th, welcomed the impending release of a film centered on Article 370. He expressed optimism that the movie would offer viewers accurate insights into the subject matter. While admitting his lack of familiarity with the film’s details, Modi emphasized its potential to educate the public.

This visit marked Modi’s second trip to Jammu since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, coinciding with the film’s anticipated release. He encouraged the audience, anticipating widespread enthusiasm across the nation.

Yami Gautam, in response, expressed gratitude for Modi’s acknowledgment of the film on Instagram. She shared a video of his speech, expressing hope that the movie would surpass expectations in portraying the remarkable narrative.

Released across 1,500 cinema halls and 2,200 screens in India, the political drama is off to a promising start. Reports suggest that the film has already sold over 80,000 tickets in major chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, with projections of reaching 100,000 by the end of the opening day. Initial estimates indicate that “Article 370” is poised to gross over ₹5 crores net, although it could have surpassed the ₹10 crore mark if not for reduced ticket prices.

Produced by Aditya Dhar, acclaimed for his work on “Uri: The Surgical Strike”, “Article 370” boasts a stellar cast featuring Yami Gautam, Priyamani, and Arun Govil. Gautam portrays the role of an intelligence agent involved in countering terrorism in Kashmir amidst the backdrop of Article 370’s abrogation by the Central government on August 5, 2019.
