The Ministry of Education on Wednesday announced the rankings of institution on innovation achievements in the year 2021. The year 2020 had recorded involvement of 674 institutions and in 2021, the number has shot upto atleast 5 times, numbering at 3,551. The list has 7 IITs in the top 10 list and IIT Madras, Bombay and Delhi has yet again gained top three spots for third consecutive year.
The rankings were made on the basis of following criterias:
- Promotion of innovation and startup in educational institutions
- Basic structures and facilities
- Related courses
- Successful innovation out of campus and startup
- Investment
- Research
- Technology transfer
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and Gujarat University from Gujarat were ranked at 7th and 9th ranks respectively in the list. GTU was on the 5th rank previously. Punjab University topped the State University Rankings for the first time, it had ranked second in the year prior to this year.
