Indian Billionaires Donate Over Rs 12000 Crores In FY 2021

Azim Premji, Wipro founder who is known to be extremely generous with his health has again emerged as the “most generous” philanthropist billionaire in India. As per the reports, in the year 2021, he donated a wholesome amount of Rs 9713 crores i.e., averaged at Rs 27 crores per day.

Premji stood at the top of the Edelgive Hurun India Philathorpy List 2021 ahead of Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani and many others. His contribution has increased since the past year by nearly four times.

Premji was followed by Shiv Nadar, HCL Technologies with Rs 1263 crores, Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries with Rs 577 crores, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Aditya Birla Group with Rs 377 crores, Nandan Nilekani, Infosys with Rs 183 crores, Hinduja Family, Hinduja Group with Rs 166 crore, Bajaj Family, Bajaj Group with Rs 136 crores, Gautam Adani, Adani Group with Rs 130 crores, Anil Aggarwal, Vendata With Rs 130 crores and Burman Family, Dabur India with Rs 114 crores.

Meanwhile, nine women also found places on the rankings. It includes, Rohini Nilekani of the Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, who donated Rs 69 crores, USV’s Leena Gandhi Tewari donated Rs 24 crores and Anu Aga of Thermax who donated Rs 20 crores.

As per the list, 31 percent of the people on the list were from Mumbai. Followed by Delhi at 17 percent and Bengaluru at 10 percent.
