Members of the Gujarat Animal Welfare Board and the Jain community have written a letter to the civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, seeking a ban on serving non-vegetarian meals to passengers on domestic flights.
The letter was triggered by an incident on a Tokyo-Delhi flight of Air India when a vegetarian passenger who didn’t even eat garlic or onion was served non-vegetarian food.
Rajendra Shah, a board member, said that the ban request was being made on behalf of vegetarian passengers as they feel “distressed and offended” when non-veg food is served instead of veg food.
