Barnum Theory, Perception And Many More Topics Presented At Playtos’ Punctuating Event

| Updated: December 19, 2021 21:17

Eight children from the age group of 10-14 presented their own understanding on subjects that many learn about as adults such as Barnum Effect, Logical Fallacy, Perception and more at the Punctuating Event of their first semester of Playtos Miniversity at 079 stories in Ahmedabad.

The chief guest at the event was Falguni Vasavada. The parents of the students were also in attendance at the event.

The idea of Playtos Miniversity was developed during the pandemic when the mother-son duo, Janki Vasant and Yash Vasant stumbled upon the realities of life and found the school lacking some necessary skillsets.

“We realized during the pandemic that the so-called privileged are also facing problem with limiting education and realized that they are going to be the leaders of tomorrow, so we decided to give them a platform for honing their skills,” said Janki Vasant, Co-founder at Playtos Miniversity.

“As I walk through the journey of their growth and evolution, I am blown away because every single one of them was not this person three months ago. It has fostered this renewed faith in me. It is amazing what you can do when the right skill set is combined with the right value system,” said Yash Vasant, Co-founder at Playtos Miniversity.

“Playtos has provided us a platform to experiment, even if the ideas are unheard of, there are always open ears that welcome the ideas,” said Prof Chirag Trivedi, Curriculum Design Head at Playtos Miniversity.

“I feel fulfilled by the work I am doing there, in all the years of teaching, I always thought that there was something more that needs to be done,” he added.

The children focused on their respective topics with real-life examples and interaction. The children created a magazine to introduce them and their presentations to the audience.

Ayaan Mehta, 13 explained Logical Fallacy, Infographics and Chindogu through real-life examples and found solutions through these techniques. “I used emotional fallacy to get something from my mum just yesterday,” said Ayaan.

Tarana Rangwala talked about perception through artwork and different media and Pushti Shah presented on insights with a few jokes and riddles. Bishakha Tambi talked about character types through popular movies, books and TV Shows. Yathaarth Patel portrayed storytelling through dice and legos and talked about the importance of helping animals. He set up a fundraiser and gave postcards to whoever donated.

At the end of the presentation, the certificates were distributed to the children by Dr Falguni Vasavada.

The entire course is laid out over two years in the four core areas. The sessions for the first batch, Alpha began in late August.
