When an individual passes away, customary sorrow permeates the familial abode and resonates through the village. However, in the heart of Bhavangarh village, within the confines of Idar taluka in Gujarat, an extraordinary commemoration unfolded—a distinctive prayer gathering ( Besnu) that served as a poignant tribute to their departed patriarch.
Upon seeing the images of the mandap, one might mistake the scene for a wedding celebration. In reality, the setting was marked by the solemn remembrance of Bhavangarh’s royal figure, Pravinsingh Kumpawat. After his death on the 18th December in Melbourne, Australia, his family decided to immortalize his memory with a unique gesture. Pravinsinh was known to have lived his life fully and joyfully. He was an an avid photography enthusiast. The Besnu was meticulously arranged with selected photographs he cherished adorning the venue.
Satyajit Singh Kumpawat, the son of the departed soul said that the arrangement of prayer meeting for his dead father was keeping in sync with the adorable personality he was while alive.
The Besnu underscored the beautiful transcendence of the conventional norms. The family also decided to arrange pilgrimage to Ram Mandir for 5000 families. They also donated 100 cows for the occassion.
This departure from age-old traditions, unique way of celebrating life was generally appreciated by the community. The modified manner of dealing with sorrow resonates with grace and compassion.
