Blinkit Launches 10-Minute Ambulance Service in Gurugram

| Updated: January 3, 2025 11:35

Blinkit has introduced a rapid-response ambulance service in Gurugram, aiming to deliver emergency aid within 10 minutes. CEO and co-founder Albinder Dhindsa announced the launch on January 2, marking the company’s entry into emergency healthcare services.

“Ambulance in 10 minutes. We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities,” Dhindsa shared in a statement. “The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today. As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing an option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app,” he added.

Each ambulance in the service is equipped with life-saving tools, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and critical emergency medications. A trained paramedic, an assistant and a professional driver accompany every vehicle to ensure comprehensive care during emergencies.

Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the ambulance service is designed to remain accessible and affordable for the public. Blinkit plans to extend the service to major cities across India within the next two years, ensuring wider access to rapid emergency care.

The initiative has garnered praise from prominent figures in the tech and startup community. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Nothing CEO Carl Pei applauded Dhindsa’s efforts, while Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal also reacted positively to the announcement.

Dhindsa highlighted the critical role of public cooperation in the success of the service, urging citizens to give way to ambulances on the road. “Timely access can save lives,” he stressed, underscoring the importance of swift and unhindered movement for emergency vehicles.
