Bombay HC Directs Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ex-Wife To Appear In Court

| Updated: March 30, 2023 14:20

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his ex-wife Zainab Siddiqui were directed by the Bombay High Court on Thursday to appear before it on April 3 with their two minor children to discuss the prospect of amicably resolving their differences for the benefit of the children.

A habeas corpus (produce the person) petition filed by the actor seeking his ex-wife to reveal the whereabouts of his 12-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son was being heard by a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Sharmila Deshmukh.

The actor said that his wife had brought the children from Dubai to India without telling him and that since they weren’t going to school, it was affecting their education. The actor, his ex-wife, and their two children were asked to appear before the bench on April 3 for an in-camera hearing by the bench on Thursday.

“We are concerned for the children…let’s explore the possibility of an amicable settlement,” the court said.

Adnan Shaikh, the lawyer for Nawazuddin Siddiqui, informed the bench that a proposed consent term had been sent as the high court had earlier ordered.

“We have sent the proposed consent terms. It has been six days but we have got no reply. Don’t think they want to settle,” Shaikh said. Advocate Chaitanya Purankar, appearing for Zainab, however, argued she too wants to settle the matter.
