As per the reports, exotic birds flock in large numbers in the small desert of Kutch every year. These birds come here in search of food, especially in the cold of winter. Different birds like duck, flamingo, surkhab, as well as kunj come here from thousands of kilometers away.
Bird watchers as well as tourists come in large numbers to see these birds. The Horse Sanctuary Dhrangadhra is kept under surveillance to ensure that no one hunts these birds or causes them any harm.
Spotted usually in early mornings, the tourists are also guided and given information about these birds. It is worth noting that nesting also takes place during this cold season and as many as 50,000 nests have been observed this winter.
