‘Bootleggers Threatened Our MLA’ Claims Gujarat Congress

| Updated: July 27, 2022 20:33

The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devrat, cancelled his meeting with Gujarat Congress leader Sukhram Rathwa on July 27. Gujarat Congress President Jagdish Thakor informed the media the Governor nullified their scheduled meeting at 5 PM due to his ill health.

Addressing the media further, Jagdish Thakor said they would send a letter to the Governor’s office. According to him, they have information about the Rojid village panchayat letter and Congress MLA Rajeshbhai Gohil’s letter to the PSI.

Jagdish Thakor said, “Our MLA Rajeshbhai Gohil submitted a letter to the Coordination Committee. However, there was no action from their side to prohibit liquor in the area.” He also claimed that bootleggers threatened to kill our MLA and taluka President.

The Gujarat Congress also claimed that Chowkdi is a hub for hidden liquor stores, and the concerned officials worked hard to close it. But, it did not happen due to the pressure of the ruling party.

According to the government, the people drank chemical mixed water due to the unavailability of alcohol. However, Gujarat Congress refused to believe the government’s claims and demanded punishment for the responsible officials.

The Congress leaders expressed their sadness over alcohol and drugs being rampant in Gujarat. Congress claimed, “There is a chief bootlegger in every district who delivers liquor during elections. Liquor, stolen from police stations, sells outside.” They also asked for the immediate resignation of Union Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi for corrupting Gujarat’s youth.”

MLA Dr C J Chawda said, “BJP gets votes in the name of holy cows. But, in the case of cow viruses, they stay inactive. The government has allowed people from the private sector to run the state. Due to this, Animal Husbandry has failed to tackle the disease. There is no treatment or vaccination, but corruption in the state.”

“There are flaws in the government and their policies. They plan only for the elections,” the MLA added.
