The stoic image of 17-year-old Aashna Lidder will stay in mind for years to come. As she lit father, Brigadier Lakhwinder Singh Lidder’s pyre to fire on Friday, the country could not help but salute the teenager’s brave front. Brigadier Lidder’s Daughter was trolled on social media for her personal views on the ruling party, she was trolled and eventually she deleted her Twitter account.
Brigadier Lakhwinder Singh Lidder was among the 13 killed in the unfortunate chopper crash. He was defence advisor to the CDS and his recent promotion had been cleared. A promising poet, Aashna’s In Search of a Title, had a foreword by CDS Rawat and the book was launched at an event attended by the late General’s wife, Madhulika Rawat.
Even though, Brig Lidder’s wife broke down, Aashna held on to console her mother. “I will miss my best friend and biggest motivator,” said the young girl.
However, social media trolls left no stone unturned to criticise the bereaved daughter for ideology tweeted in past. Late Friday evening, her Twitter account could not be accessed. Some political leaders including Congressman Karti Chidambaram and Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi hit back at the trolls and extended support to Aashna.
