Centre Waives RTPCR Requirement For Ukraine Returnees; Four Union Ministers To Leave for Ukraine

| Updated: February 28, 2022 18:10

In view of the Russia-Ukraine turmoil and consequent evacuation of Indians from Ukraine, the government of India has waived off the mandatory pre-boarding negative RT-PCR report and vaccination certificate. The move is aimed at quick repatriation.

All evacuated Indians have been exempted from uploading documents before departure on Air Suvidha portal. The Centre, on Monday, revised Covid-19 international travel advisory in wake of the evacuation of Indian nationals from war-hit Ukraine. As on Feb 28, a total of 1,156 Indians from Ukraine arrived in India with none of the passengers kept under isolation.

The Ministry of Health has provided exemptions for all Indians who returned home from the eastern European country. As for travellers who are not doubly vaccinated, the rule requires them to submit a sample on arrival. They, however, have to continue to self-monitor for 14 days post arrival.

India has been carrying out evacuations of stranded citizens from Ukraine on a war-footing. The Cabinet secretary has also requested all district collectors to contact the family members of the students and keep them informed about the arrangements being made to bring their children back home. Four Union ministers will be leaving for Ukraine tonight to expedite the evacuation process from the borders surrounding the war-hit country.
