Civic Body Issues Notice To Seven Path Labs In City

| Updated: January 20, 2022 17:55

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s health department has served notices to seven pathology laboratories in the city for negligence in reporting Covid-19 cases.

The laboratories have allegedly not provided Covid sample data regularly and completely to the AMC. “The private laboratories have been testing regularly. While they send in the positive cases data, they often don’t share the numbers for the negative samples. As a result, this shows a higher positivity rate in the available/reported outcome. Samples taken regularly need to be submitted online so that the real picture of coronavirus cases can be accessed in the city,” explained a civic official.

Labs that were served the notice include:

    Northstar Pathology Lab

    Sunflower Laboratory

    Gujarat Pathology Laboratory

    Speciality Microtech Lab

    Green Cross Laboratory

    Neuberg Supratech Reference Laboratories

    In Vitro Speciality Laboratory

The health department has urged all the laboratories strict action will be taken for non-compliance of rules. A meeting was also held with the administrators of all seven private laboratories.

The official said, “Some laboratories are collecting more samples than their testing capacity. This is leading to a further delay in reporting the sample details in the stipulated time.”

AMC has warned the erring labs of strict actions like asking the Gujarat government to cancel their registration if they are found

negligent.
