CM Reviews Pilgrimage Masterplan

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar yesterday to conduct a comprehensive review of the state’s holy pilgrimage master plan.

In this review meeting organised by the Gujarat Holy Pilgrimage Development Board, the Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel got interesting information about the progress and future planning of various development works of 8 holy pilgrimage sites, 28 other important pilgrimage centers and 358 government-owned temples of the state.

Tourism-Pilgrimage Secretary  Harit Shukla and Secretary of Pavitra Yatradham Development Board Rawal informed the Chief Minister about the activities of the Yatradham Development Board through an elaborate presentation. Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Kailashnathan participated in this meeting.

In 64 pilgrimage centres of the state, Rs. 334 crore development projects have been approved out of which 26 works worth Rs. 152.55 crores are in progress and 38 works worth Rs. 177.80 crore works are under progress at various stages.

Chief Minister Patel was further told in this review meeting that comprehensive development master planning of Ambaji, Dwarka, Pavagadh, Bahucharaji, Mata no Madh, Madhavpur Krishna-Rukmani shrines has been carried out in the 8 holy pilgrimage places of the state. Not only this, financial management will be ensured for the all-round development of Siddhpur and sacred faith centers of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

According to the concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, temples have been built around the shrines of 51 Shakti Peeths in the holy pilgrimage site of Ambaji. The three-day Parikrama Mohotsav of these 51 Shaktipeeths will also be held in the coming days. Along with this, a detailed outline of the work plan for development works worth 32 crores was also given in this meeting which includes the first phase of Kantharpur Historical Vad at Rs. 6 crore, Rs. 48 crore development works at Madhavpur, Rs. 32 crores of development works at Mata No Madh. An initiative to save electricity costs by lighting pilgrimages with solar energy has been implemented in Gujarat, with such systems operating in 349 religious places.

It was also told in the meeting that as a result of this, the electricity cost is saved to the tune of 3 crore rupees annually. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also suggested in this meeting for high-end cleanliness for the purpose of maintaining 24×7 cleanliness in pilgrimages. Details were also presented in the meeting that 1 lakh 18 thousand pilgrims have benefited from the Shravan Tirtha Darshan Yojana, under which the state government has started to provide the benefit of darshan of various pilgrimage places to the senior citizens.
