Sensitive details of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s health insurance claim have recently been leaked on social media, initiating widespread concern and debate.
The leaked information revealed that Saif had applied for a claim of Rs 35.95 lakh following an attack at his Bandra West residence. The incident left him with multiple stab wounds, requiring urgent medical attention at Lilavati Hospital.
Documents from the leak showed that Rs 25 lakh of the claim had already been approved by Niva Bupa Health Insurance, with the total claim amount standing at Rs 35.95 lakh. The leak has raised questions about disparities in health insurance coverage, drawing comments from healthcare professionals.
Dr. Prashant Mishra, a Mumbai-based cardiac surgeon, highlighted the challenges faced by middle-class policyholders in obtaining similar approvals.
“For small hospitals and common man, Niva Bupa will not sanction more than Rs 5 lakh for such treatment. All 5-star hospitals are charging exorbitant fees and mediclaim companies are paying also. Result – premiums are rising and middle class is suffering,” he stated.
Niva Bupa Health Insurance, Saif Ali Khan’s insurer, confirmed the claim details to a section of the media.
They explained that a cashless pre-authorisation request had been approved to initiate treatment and assured that the final bills would be settled in accordance with the policy terms.
Addressing the leak, the company expressed its concern, saying, “The recent unfortunate incident with actor Saif Ali Khan is deeply concerning. We wish him a speedy and safe recovery.”
While the leak has commenced discussions online, neither Saif Ali Khan nor his family has issued any public statement on the matter.
