Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called out the Congress Party on ‘hounding’ him for 20 years and resorting to smear campaigns against Gujarat. Addressing a public rally in Jam Kandorna village of Rajkot district, Modi claims a collusion between the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) saying the grand old party has outsourced the work of ‘abusing’ him while quietly capturing votes.
“They (Congress) have suddenly gone silent and outsourced the contract of creating fracas and abusing me to others. They are silently going to villages and asking people for votes,” Modi claims without naming AAP.
The remarks come two days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed AAP’s Gujarat chief Gopal Italia for allegedly calling the former a ‘neech aadmi’ (a lowly person).
“They left no stone unturned to harass me in the last 20 years, hurled choicest abuses at me and even used all possible legal tactics by going to courts. In the process, they also resorted to a slander campaign against Gujarat. But all those who worked against the interests of Gujarat were outrightly rejected (in polls) every time,” he said.
Modi cautions the BJP cadre
The PM has asked BJP cadres to remain vigilant as the Opposition party is organizaing ‘khatla baithaks’ (informal meetings) in villages to collect votes. He appealed to the masses to defeat the people who have no respect for ‘son of the soil’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“People from all over the world have visited the Statue of Unity built as a tribute to Sardar Patel. But find out one Congressman who has been there. Even if a handful of them have, they did so clandestinely. Those who have no reverence for sons of soil can’t be acceptable in Gujarat,” he said.
