Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) opposition leader Ami Ravat and Congress city president Rutvij Joshi today reached Sursagar lake in Vadodara to check the diluted oxygen level.
The VMC team also took samples for checking earlier in the day.
After many dead fish were spotted in the water inside the historic lake and complaints were made, Congress party members reached the lake to check dissolved oxygen level.
“The oxygen aeration started half an hour before we arrived at the place and hence the level is maintained at present. In the name of beautification, the administration damaged the natural nutrients cycle by constructing the RCC boundary around the lakes. But we also wrote a letter regarding maintaining oxygen level inside the lakes, strict monitoring, and periodic checking to enable the animals to live,” said Ami Ravat.
Congress city President said that Sursagar lake is the centre of attraction for people and a place of faith as the statue of Lord Mahadev is situated in the middle.
Standing Committee Chairman Dr. Hitendra Patel appealed to people not to feed the fish. He also said that efforts would be made to complete the oxidation process and ensure that this is not repeated.
