The court ordered the release of Nilesh Joshi, 65, who was apprehended for the charge of assassinating his own son and disjointing his body, for him to attend the last rites of his son. The ceremony is to be performed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Nilesh was arrested last month, five days after he reportedly killed his 21 year old druggie son, Swayam and chopped his body into six pieces and disposed it off at two different places.
The accused, who is a retired traffic inspector pleaded to the metropolitan court to release him on temporary bail so as for him to perform the last rites of his son. The metropolitan court refused him permission to do so, considering how brutally he had conducted the homicide.
Joshi filed an application before the sessions’ court asking for temporary bail. He claimed that he has no other relative to perform the last rites of his son as his wife and daughter are in Germany. As the AMC was going to dispose off his son’s body, he requested a day’s release from jail.
After listening to Joshi’s lawyer, additional sessions judge B S Chauhan asserted that Joshi had a genuine reason for granting temporary bail. The court conceded to him to be released with a police escort for the day AMC is to perform the last rites. The court has ordered Joshi to be taken to the cremation ground for the ceremony and to be taken back to the jail, after the last rites finish.
