Gujarat on Tuesday saw a rise in daily covid cases as the tally stood at 16,608. For the past few days, covid numbers in the state have been fluctuating. On Saturday the State reported the highest covid numbers since June 1, 2020.
New covid cases increased to 16,608 from 13,805 reported on Monday. There was a rise of 2,803 cases within 24 hours.
Monday saw the daily covid deaths at 25 in the State whereas it has increased to 28 on Tuesday. These deaths were reported from Ahmedabad 10, Vadodara 2, Surat 2, Jamnagar 2 and Mehsana 1.
The number of active cases in the State has decreased by 887; the number of active cases was 1,35,148 on Monday whereas Tuesday saw 1,34,261 active cases. Total 255 people in the state are on a ventilator.
While Ahmedabad city remained the biggest contributor with 5303 cases it was an increase from yesterday’s 4,361 cases. Other major contributors include Vadodara with 3041 cases, Vadodara rural with 761 cases, Surat with 1004 cases, Rajkot with 1376 cases and Surat rural with 761 cases.These six regions made up for 70% of the Covid cases recorded today.
Gujarat Government is feeling the pressure this time as many Ministers in the state cabinet are reporting covid positive. State Government Minister R.C.Makwana on Tuesday tested covid positive. Other Ministers who have tested positive are Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel and Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi .

According to Central Government data Active Cases in India,as on 25th January are 22,36,842. Whereas daily new cases in the last 24 hours India stood at 2,55,874 and daily positivity rate of India stood at 15.52 percent.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya on Tuesday held a conference with Health Ministers and secretaries of North Indian states and Union Territories to take stock of the covid situation in the North Indian states and Union Territories. He stressed on the need to increase monitoring of home isolated patients, vaccination drives and other measures to control covid situation.
