195 Health Care Workers Covid Positive So Far In Gujarat

With the hugely transmissible Omicron raging across Gujarat, as many as 195 healthcare workers (HCWs) from 15 major hospitals of the state have been in home isolation as of Tuesday. 

An added slew of 7,476 new covid cases were registered yesterday. Of these, 134 HCWs are Covid positive in seven major public sector hospitals in Ahmedabad.

134 HCWs in 7 city hospitals

There were 54 HCWs covid positive in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital, 30 in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, 18 in LG Hospital, 15 in GMERS Sola MCH, 9 HCWs in Government Dental College, 6 in Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) and 2 in Shardaben Hospital. As of January 11, there were no staff members Covid positive at IKDRC.

Saurashtra: 3 in 4 hospitals

In the western part of the state, there were 5 HCWs Covid positive in PDU Rajkot Civil Hospital, 4 in GGG Jamnagar Civil Hospital, 3 in Sir T Bhavnagar Civil Hospital and 1 doctor was infected and is in isolation at GMERS Junagadh MCH.

Central Gujarat: 32 in 3 hospitals

There were 12 HCWs positive in SSG Hospital Vadodara, and at least 3 nurses in GMERS Gotri MCH. There were 17 HCWs infected by Covid in GMERS Gandhinagar MCH.

South Gujarat: 15 in Surat Civil Hospital

Officials in the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said that a total of 98 HCWs in the city had tested Covid positive so far. of these, 15 were staff members of the Surat New Civil Hospital (NCH), including its medical superintendent Dr Ganesh Govekar and resident medical officer (RMO) Dr Ketan Naik. 

A total of 83 HCWs of the SMC including staff at SMIMER Hospital were also Covid positive.
