It is that time of the year again when IPL fever has gripped the country. The cricket finals are slated to take place coming weekend at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera in Ahmedabad.
The State government claims that Motera is the biggest stadium in the world and has a capacity of 1.32 lakh spectators. The qualifier round 2 and the final of IPL 2022 will be held in the stadium. Tickets for the qualifier round 2 and final match have almost been sold out.
Some cricket fans who like to enjoy their favourite sport while chilling at home along with their friends and family. Team VoI talked with some cricket fanatics to get an idea of how they would go about the exciting weekend.
Dev Verma, a student, is all set to witness the IPL final with his bunch of best friends on a huge projector screen in the middle of their residential society. He said ” May 29 is the day when we will be able to see the craziest match of the year, the IPL finale. My friends and I have always enjoyed watching and playing cricket, and we are watching it since season 1. We always watch the finals together since the first season, and we make special arrangements for the event.
Nihar Aggarwal, a B.Sc graduate and a theatre and vocal artist, is a passionate cricketer. Nihar does not intend watching the match in the stadium but he is looking forward to catching all the action unfold on television TV with his family. He said, “So, the atmosphere at my place is very exciting. Our neighbours come and join us whenever there is an important match like this.’’
Meet Shah, another cricket lover is rooting for his favourite team of the season, Gujarat Titans. He plans to watch the big match along with his friends in the comfort of his home. Meet said” We have planned to order food online and eat while watching the match. We all are supporting Gujarat Titans and will wear its jersey. At first, we decided to watch it in the stadium but missed the opportunity of buying the tickets. So, we decided to watch it at my place. We have arranged fireworks also. I am very excited about the match and can’t wait for Gujarat Titans to lift the trophy in their very first season”, he said,
Bhavya, a student at GLS University, is looking forward to a great match day with an insightful discussion with his friends. He said ” My plans were to go to the stadium. I am a cricketer and was recently selected in the state via NCL (National Cricket League). I cannot miss watching a match in my city and that too IPL Final. It is my bad luck that I did not get tickets but I will make up for it by hanging out with friends to watch the match on television.’’
Nihar Saraogi, a Client service manager at Click Multimedia Pvt, is an athlete who loves to watch almost every cricket match “Being a huge cricket enthusiast, I’ve closely followed the entire IPL season this year. Until now, I have watched all the matches with my father. So, I will watch the semi-finals with him and the finals with my friends.
