Curtain Raiser Of Khel Mahakumbh Registrations Inaugurated By CM

The government of Gujarat organised a “Curtain Raiser” event for the renowned sports meet registration of the state ” Khel Mahakumbh” on February 17, 2022. This event was organised to launch the Registration portal of this year’s Khel Mahakumbh. CM Bhupendra Patel, Harsh Sanghavi (Home Minister), IAS Ashvini Kumar (Secretary, sports, youth and culture activity), Arjunsinh Rana (Vice-Chancellor,  Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, Gandhinagar), Sanjeep Single of (Ahmedabad District Collector) and Mayor of Ahmedabad were present at the event.

Khel Mahakumbh was started in 2010 by the Prime Minister of the country, PM Modi. To create awareness among the people about sports, maintain physical fitness, and develop sports culture, various competitions of Khel Mahakumbh from village level to state level are organised by the state government.

About 16.50 lakh athletes had registered to participate in the Khel Mahakumbh held in the year 2010. 46,89,730 athletes, including children, students, youth and citizens, registered to participate in J Khel Mahakumbh 2019. Out of which 39,32,903 athletes participated enthusiastically in various sports competitions. Khel Mahakumbh has given a prominent identity to the state’s sports policy.

IAS, Ashvini Kumar, said, “This Curtain raiser was the idea of Harsh Sanghavi. This kind of ceremony has been the first time being organised in Gujarat. I welcome everyone watching this event from every nook and corner of our state; I welcome you from the organisation’s side. Sport is the foundation of healthy and happy citizenship across the globe. due to positive initiativelike khel makahubh . I am positive that his Mahakumbha will establish values and will helo all sportsmen and will  encourage their spirits.”

Harsh Sanghavi said, “Khel Mahakubh must be a normal sports event for everyone sitting here, but under the guidance of CM, we have decided to make this Mahakunbh like a Diwali festival for every sportsman. We aim to organise such Khel Mahakumbh that it will give hope to people who want to Pursue sports from every nook and village of this state. I thank the CM that he pitched the budget to organise this event instead of covid. More than 40 lakh Gujaratis will participate this year—the players. We need to emphasize sports infrastructure in the coming days, just like Nadiad centre, and we want to establish such centres in vivid districts across Gujarat. Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, built in for years, will be inaugurated in the coming two months, where an international level swimming pool, residence, and auditorium will be present on an international level. Arjun sinh Ji has been working baed for this university to be put together. The Gujarat govt is trying to inculcate its production of sportswear under sports policy. More than 1 lakh job opportunities will be open under the IT policy; this will be beneficial for youngsters related to sports as well.

CM Bhupendra Patel said,  ” Khel Mahakumb has become a huge ceremony now. PM Modi has put Gujarat from ‘nowhere” to somewhere in the sports Map of India through this event. This event will encourage tan man Vikas as well. This is not just a sports festival, but a new turn in Gujarat Vikas. This Khel Mahakumbh has become a stature of for Vikas of sports in Gujarat. in this Mahakubh, we have observed an increase in registration from people. This year under covid guidelines, we have organised this Mahakubh for Gujarat youngsters. I have an appeal that this tear let’s surpass the registration numbers and every citizen must participate in his event. After Azadi, the country saw swaraj; now, the country is seeing a swasth (Healthy)Rajya under the guidance of PM. I appeal that people must encourage and make use of this Mahakumbha”

Given the Covid epidemic, Khel Maha Kumbh is being organised this year for the state’s youth to show their talent in the field and create an atmosphere of health in the state. The winners of 29 different sports four age-group competitions will be given cash prizes of Rs 30 crore.

The first, second and third best schools of the taluka who have won in the taluka level competitions will be given cash prizes of Rs. 25 thousand, Rs. 15 thousand and Rs. 10 thousand respectively.

The first, second and third best schools of the district which have won in district level competitions will also be given cash prizes of Rs. 1.50 lakhs, Rs. 1 lakhs and Rs. 0.75 lakhs.

At the end of Khel Maha Kumbh’s state-level competition, the state’s best schools will be given cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh, respectively.

As a result of this, Khel Mahakumbh started in the year 2010, 6 women athletes of the state have represented India in Tokyo Olympics 2020 for the first time in the 60 year history of Gujarat and made the name of the state and the nation bright. Among them, Bhavinaben Patel won a silver medal in the singles event of table tennis at the Paralympics and made Gujarat proud. Bhavinaben Patel has been felicitated by giving three crore cash prizes under Khel Pratibha Puraskar Yojana of Sports Authority of Gujarat under the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department of the Government.
