Getting the third Gold and an overall sixth medal for India, Achinta Sheuli lifted a combined weight of 313 kg in Mens’s 73 kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The 20-year-old weightlifter, who hails from West Bengal, lifted a total of 143 kg in the snatch and 170 kg in clean and jerk. He set a record for lifting 143 kg in his third attempt of snatch round after lifting two clean, 137 kg and 140 kg, in his first and second attempt respectively.

Achinta Sheuli’s first attempt for the clean and jerk round was 166 kg, which was successful. Coming for the second attempt, the young lifter could not lift 170 kg but only to come back and lift it in the third attempt and to crate a new Games record for a total lift of 313 kg.
