Delhi: 6-Year-Old Child Murdered At CRPF Headquarters, 2 Arrested

| Updated: October 3, 2022 11:08

Two persons were arrested for allegedly killing a six-year-old child at the construction site of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters in Lodhi Colony in South Delhi on Saturday night. The police said that the accused have confessed to have performed a “sacrifice for prosperity”

Police said accused Vijay Kumar (19) and Amar Kumar (22) were under the influence of drugs when they allegedly slit the boy’s neck and stabbed him in the head.

The accused, working as a cement cutter at the site, are from Bihar. The murdered boy lived with his parents at the site where they work as labourers. The family, who had reached Delhi from UP’s Bareilly about a month ago, said that they were busy with Durga Puja festivities when the incident happened.

According to the police, at 12:40 am on Sunday morning, a call was received from the security personnel at the CRPF site.

DCP (South) Chandan Choudhary said: “We were told that a six-year-old boy had died. Two people are apprehended. We reached the spot and found the victim in the slums opposite the construction site. The labourers and CRPF personnel caught the accused. We found that the accused called the boy, who knew him, to his kitchen around 10.30 pm and killed him with a weapon.”

Police said that when the accused were caught, they were scared as they had allegedly “consumed ganja”. They later reportedly said that they wanted to “please” the gods. The accused said that they consumed drugs and approached some women at the site for incense sticks.

The DCP said, both the accused were working at the site for months. The boy’s parents said that after shifting to Delhi they wanted the boy and his two-year-old sister to go to school.

“My son was playing with his friends. We were going to the temple and women were singing bhajans and doing puja. After 10:30 pm, the accused dragged the boy to the teen shed. We searched for him everywhere. Later we saw that blood coming out of the house of the accused. I went inside and found them pushing my son’s body under a cot. I shouted for help… We had come to Delhi about four-five weeks ago. Our family never quarrelled with anyone. Why did they kill my son?” asked the father.

According to the family, one of the accused tried to escape while the other was inside his room where the boy’s body was found. “Initially, when I was looking for my son and found blood coming out from the shed, I thought they were killing a chicken. I was stunned to find my boy there. He died on the spot,” said his mother.
