Delhi: CM Kejriwal To Return To Jail Today

| Updated: June 2, 2024 14:57

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that he would surrender before the Tihar Jail authorities after visiting the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place and the Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Rajghat.

Since his three-week interim bail in the Delhi liquor policy case concluded on June 1, the AAP supremo is likely to head to Tihar Jail at around 3 p.m. His request for temporary bail due to health reasons was put off until June 5 by the Delhi court.

In addition, Kejriwal said that he would meet with party leaders at the AAP headquarters.

After receiving a 21-day interim release from the Supreme Court to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister of Delhi expressed his gratitude to the court.

“First, I will go to Rajghat and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. From there, I will go to Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place to seek the blessings of Hanuman Ji. And from there, I will go to the party office and meet all the workers and party leaders. From there, I will leave again for Tihar,” Kejriwal posted on X (formally Twitter).

On Saturday, Kejriwal convened the AAP’s political affairs committee at his residence before going to a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc prior to his surrender.

Kejriwal emphasised the need to keep the AAP leaders together in his absence at the meeting.
