| Updated: December 11, 2022 11:25

On Saturday, Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari announced the construction of five greenfield access control expressways, one of which will connect Delhi and Mumbai and be nearly complete by December.

He predicted that once the road is operational, the distance between the financial capital and the national capital will be covered in 12 hours. “The expressway between Delhi and Mumbai would be almost complete in December. With this, the distance between the two cities can be covered in 12 hours”, he said while discoursing a function post inaugurating a 2.82-km-long tunnel road between Rewa and Sidhi worth Rs 1,004 crore.

Additionally, he formally opened and laid the cornerstones for seven road projects totalling Rs. 2443.89 crore. Gadkari commended Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the state’s Chief Minister, for the state’s overall progress. “Under the leadership of Chouhan, MP has won the first prize in agriculture growth rate thrice on the trot among states during the previous UPA government’s time. I was the president of BJP at that time,” he said.

For industrial progress, he continued, “water, power, transportation, and communication are required.” The minister for the Union said he was pleased with how active development was in Madhya Pradesh. Gadkari claimed that efforts are being made to construct roads around the revered Narmada River in MP so that pilgrims may perform its “parikrama” (circumambulation).

He also discussed the roads that will be built with millions of dollars of funding to help with the Narmada river circumambulation.
