In the past days, ahead of Kali Chaudas and Diwali festivals, as many as 18 persons have died in road accidents across Gujarat. The areas include Kutch, Bharuch, Vadodra, Kheda and Aravalli.
On Thursday morning, in a collision between a car and tempo, three people died and two were injured in an accident in the Dhansura, Aravalli. The police informed that the accident took place at 10 in the morning when the family of five was travelling in the car.
Around the same time, three people had died in another road accident at the Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway when a Honda city car was hit by a milk truck from behind.
The identities of the victims is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, in Bhuj and Gandhidham, cities of Kutch, seven people had died in six different road accidents. In the first accident a 40-year-old businessman Mohammad Usman Khan was killed a when truck at the Gandhidham-Bhachau highway in Anjar hit him. Around 4:30 am on Wednesday, another speeding truck hit his vehicle in a collision.
Muhar Khan, his brother in law said that the Usman Khan owned a transport company and was travelling in a truck from Mundra port in Kutch Bhuj to New Delhi. Taking cognisance, the police lodged a case under IPC 304A for causing death due to negligence not amounting to culpable homicide and sections of rash driving against the unknown truck driver.
In another accident, Bhagat Patel, died when a speeding bike on which he was riding as passenger, lost control and slipped near the Varsana village in Anjar, Gandhidham. The police said that the victim was going towards his factory on Tuesday after had injured his head and died on the spot. A case under IPC 304A has been registered against his friend Narayan Singh who was riding the bike.
In the Samakhiyari area of Gandhidham on Wednesday around 4pm, a 36 year old labourer died after a speeding truck hit him. The victim identified as Arvind Aherbar was working at a factory when the driver hit him and fled.
Two men riding a motorcycle lost their live when they were hit by an auto-rickshaw near the Trambo cross-section in Rapar of Gandhidham .The victims have been identified as Parbat Samaiyaa and Ramji Parmar. Meanwhile, a 21 year old youth Habib Mandal lost his life on a stretch at Padana village in Gandhidham city on Wednesday afternoon. A motorcycle he was riding on, slipped.
In another accident near Nakhatrana of Kutch, a 22 year old died when his bike was hit by a speeding jeep on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, three people died in Bharuch in three different accident on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the first one, 54 year old Meera Vasava died when a rickshaw she was riding in overturned after losing balance on a stretch on the Bharuch Ankleshwar service road on Wednesday morning. In another, a 32 year old, Sajid Mudhia, died on Wednesday morning by an unknown vehicle hit his bike. In the third accident, Sanjay Vasava also died when an unknown vehicle hit him while walking.
In the Matar area of Kheda, two persons have died and three were injured in a road accident on the national highway. A speeding unknown car had hit an autorickshaw from behind in which the victims were travelling.
