Being true to his maverick self, Tesla Chief Elon Musk played a practical joke giving the phrase “let that sink in” quite a literal form when he announced to the world that he has taken the control of Twitter. Finally. Musk posted a video of entering the Twitter headquarters with a sink in his hands.
Among the very first decisions, Musk has taken at Twitter, are sacking of chief executive Parag Agrawal along with the company’s chief financial officer and its head of legal policy, trust and safety.
Musk bit the bullet just hours before the deadline set up by the court. there has been uncertainty over his intention to acquire Twitter after he made a bid. The Twitter deal puts one of the top global social media platforms in control of the world’s richest man.
The Tesla and spaceX Chief said “It is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner.” He was explaining what mad ehim buy twitter.
Elon musk was percieved to be backing off from the deal soon after his unsolicited offer was accepted in April. He even said he was canceling the contract alleging that twitter misled him over the number of fake “bot” accounts.
Twitter had rejected the allegations and insinunated that Musk was just trying to walk away after a change of mind and was trying to find an excuse. Twitter then filed a lawsuit to hold Musk to the agreement.
As the deadline was approaching, Musk changed his Twitter profile to “Chief Twit” , signalling his agreeing to stick to his takeover plan. The multi-billionaire later shared a picture of himself socializing at a coffee bar at Twitter headquarters.
There are mixed feelings among current employees at twitter about their new boss. Some, preferring to not work for him, have already left, whereas some want to give him ” benefit of doubt”
Social media world is clearly divided in those favouring and those oppsing Musk taking over Twitter. Some activists are alarmed at the prospect of sucha powerful communication tool in the hands of worl’d richest man, who is quite unpredictable to say the least. Others beleive that Musk with his strightfowardnesswill make twittle less opaque.
One of the most controversial views of Musk is to allow banned user Donald Trump back to Twitter. Musk however has said that he realizes Twitter “cannot become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said with no consequences.”
