Fire Broke Out At Gopal Namkeen Factory In Rajkot

| Updated: December 11, 2024 18:49

A fire broke out at Gopal Namkeen located in the Metoda GIDC industrial area in Lodhika, Rajkot, on Wednesday. The firefighter team from Shapar and Kalavad area rushed to the scene. As of the latest reports, efforts are still ongoing to bring the fire under control, with emergency crews working tirelessly in challenging conditions.

According to initial reports, the fire has caused extensive damage, with goods worth lakhs of rupees destroyed. Fortunately, there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries so far.

The company, which deals with large quantities of oil and plastic packaging materials, is believed to have been storing these goods in significant volumes. The presence of such materials likely contributed to the fire’s rapid spread and it quickly escalated to a ferocious blaze. Thick black smoke was seen billowing into the sky, and witnesses reported that the fumes could be seen from as far as 4 kilometres away.

According to the company manager, there are usually 400-500 workers present at the factory daily. However, since Wednesday was a holiday for the GIDC area, it is believed that a major loss of life was avoided. However, the fire is so fierce that it has not yet been contained, and the strong winds are making it more difficult to control.

This is a developing story.
