The Gujarat government is set to organise 43 major events, including the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Krishi Mahotsav, Ranotsav and Garib Kalyan Mela, among others in 2025. The calendar reveals that government work will be shut for 157 days.
A circular issued by the General Administration Department highlights that the active involvement of government employees in these events is crucial, often requiring their presence on-site.
When combined with Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, statutory holidays, and festival holidays, this leaves only 208 working days for administrative functioning in 2025.
Notable events on the annual calendar include the Kite Festival, Animal Health Fair, School Entrance Festival, Gunotsav, Yoga Day and Garib Kalyan Mela. Both, January and November will see six events each, while no programs are planned for April.
Many of these events span multiple days, potentially disrupting the administrative workflow and slowing down routine governmental operations.
