| Updated: November 6, 2021 14:53

Shah Rukh Khan is celebrating his 56th birthday today. His fans are at Mannat, like every year, waiting to get a glimpse of the star without fail even in his hardest time.

The witty Khan is known for carrying himself in interviews better than any other star in Bollywood. The wide-eyed boy from Delhi has now become an international personality.

He started with theatre and got his first debut with Raj Kumar Kapoor’s Fauji where the versatile actor starred as Abhimanyu Rai. The actor is known for his roles as the charming heartthrob has done multiple anti-hero films and started an era of grey characters in Bollywood.

Here are five facts about the star that you do not know.

His first movie was not Baazigar

Despite popular belief that his first movie debut was Baazigar, it is his second movie. He took a huge risk and did not shy away from grey roles in the offset of his career with movies like Darr and Baazigar.

However, the first film that the actor starred in is Deewana where he starred as the second male lead next to Divya Bharti. This was his first film that was released in 1992. He received the Filmfare Best Male Debut award for the same. However, he began shooting for Dil Aashna Hai directed by Hema Malini before Deewana but it did not release before.

He did not want to act in Bollywood

Even though Shah Rukh wanted to be an actor and had acted in multiple serials including Circus, Idiot and In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones which was in English, he did not intend to work in Bollywood.

His mannerisms and acting were compared to that of Dilip Kumar but the actor always maintained that he did not want to work for Bollywood as he was not confident in himself.

Gave his award to Salman Khan

As of now, both the Khans share a cordial relationship but there have been extreme ups and downs between the duo’s relationship from being inseparable brotherhood as Karan and Arjun to not crossing paths in the late 2000s. But even when at odds, they can’t help praising each other. Shahrukh Khan received the Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in 1998, but to everyone’s dismay, he invited Salman Khan on stage and presented him the award and requested him to give the thank-you speech.

He is Dr Shah Rukh K

Shah Rukh is the only actor in Hindi cinema to have earned three doctorates from foreign universities. His work in cinema has earned him an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

His works of philanthropy, altruism, and humanitarianism, as well as his worldwide scope as a filmmaker, have earned him an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Dr Shah Rukh K is his formal name.

Shah Rukh is really a Knight in Shining Armour

Shah Rukh does not only save his leading ladies in films but he is the honoured equivalent of a knighthood in Malaysia.
