Four Students Drown In Narmada Canal, One Dead

In a tragic incident, four students of Nirma University drowned in the Narmada canal while trying to rescue one another on Thursday near a waterside restaurant in the Adalaj area of Gandhinagar.

One of them died, while the other three were rescued by the passersby with the help of a long rope made from a cloth. A team of lifeguards who plunged into the canal recovered the body of the student.

The four friends were photographing near the restaurant when it was raining.They were trying to reach a stiff hill to get a perfect picture when one of them slipped. And trying to save him, all of them drowned one after the other.

It was the alertness of the passersby on hearing the screams of the boys that proved the saviour for the three.

ASI of Adalaj Police Dashrathbhai informed that one Mayankrajsinh Karansinh Rathod of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, could not be saved. Police have lodged an FIR and are investigating further.
