Gadar 2 Sets New Box Office Record On Day 5: Collects Rs. 57 Crore On Independence Day

The highly anticipated film starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, “Gadar 2,” which hit the screens last Friday, continues to make waves at the box office. Directed by Anil Sharma, this sequel to the 2001 hit “Gadar – Ek Prem Katha” has exceeded expectations since its release. With a combination of positive reviews and immense anticipation, the movie has successfully met the high hopes placed upon it, achieving steady growth in its earnings.

As the film reaches its fifth consecutive day in theatres, “Gadar 2” has demonstrated a remarkable increase in its business. Reports indicate that the film’s collections on the fifth day are projected to exhibit an impressive 42% surge compared to its opening-day figures. Fueled by the occasion of Independence Day, along with the strong patriotic themes embedded within “Gadar 2,” and not to mention the fervour, excitement and sentimental attachment fostered by its predecessor, industry predictions suggest a substantial collection of around Rs. 57 crore on Day 5. This achievement propels the cumulative earnings over the course of five days to an impressive Rs. 230 crore. Notably, the collections amassed on Independence Day mark the highest single-day record for “Gadar 2,” ranking as the third highest of all time after “Pathaan.”

The substantial surge in collections hardly comes as a surprise, particularly considering the consistent daily earnings of approximately Rs. 40 crore that “Gadar 2” has maintained since its premiere. The film has even withstood the test of a so-called ‘Khooni Monday,’ registering a mere 5% decline in its box office performance. Regardless of the circumstances, the film’s overwhelming acclaim and the enthusiastic support it has garnered from audiences are certain to propel its earnings to even greater heights.

Reports from Pinkvilla confirm that both the afternoon and evening showings of “Gadar 2” are currently operating at full capacity throughout the nation. The film’s success was also evidenced by its extraordinary Monday collections, a feat that ranks among the best in the history of Hindi cinema. Following a remarkable opening weekend that raked in Rs. 134 crore, “Gadar 2” sustained its momentum, amassing over Rs. 39 crore nett on the fourth day of its release in India. Notably, “Gadar 2” even surpassed the earnings of the Rajinikanth starrer “Jailer,” which brought in Rs. 28 crore net in India on Monday.

Set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, “Gadar 2” continues the narrative of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena (Ameesha Patel), who are now happily married with their son Charan Jeet Singh (played by Utkarsh Sharma, reprising his role from the 2001 original) having grown up. However, a twist of fate sends Charan Jeet to Pakistan, where he undergoes harrowing experiences. The trailer indicates that Tara will venture back into Pakistan to rescue his son.

The film’s advance bookings shattered records, with theatres across major cities reporting sold-out screenings. Notably, “Gadar 2” has received admiration from within the film industry as well. Salman Khan took to Instagram to praise the film, writing, “Dhai kilo ka haath equals chalis cr ki opening. Sunny paaji is killing it. Congrats to the entire team of Gadar 2.” Furthermore, Kartik Aaryan made a visit to Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy to watch the movie.
