The governing body of Vatan Prem Yojna’s society held a meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar. The first meeting of the governing body, held on Saturday, proposed the works worth Rs 1,000 crore to be completed by December 2022.

The details of the scheme were presented before CM Vijay Rupani. Following this, a project management unit has been formed for the smooth implementation of the scheme.

Launched in the last month, the scheme has a provision for acceptance of online donations. Under which, NRIs can contribute 60 per cent of the cost of a village-level project, while the state government will contribute the rest. The present scheme is an updated packaging of the Madar-e-Vatan scheme of the state government.

The scheme is aimed to undertake village-level projects like smart classes in schools, primary health centres, Anganwadi, bus-stand, library, beautification of ponds, community hall, water recycling, drainage, sewage treatment, solar energy powered streetlights, etc.
