Minister of State Health Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Lok Sabha on Friday that so far 18 cases of Covid-19 Delta sub-variant AY.4.2 have been detected in India.
Pawar also stated in a written reply that these types of mutated variants of coronavirus are likely to evolve as, like all viruses, SARS- CoV-2 also evolves with time.
Out of the 18 cases of AY.4.2 detected in India, 10 are from Gujarat, four from Tamil Nadu, two from Assam, and one each from Maharashtra and Telangana, she said in a response to a question.
Pawar further said that the Health Ministry has explored several possibilities to operationalise the facility, including HLL, on responding to a question of whether the central government is aware that Biotech Lab namely HLL Biotech Ltd Integrated Vaccine Complex (IVC) is lying idle for a long period.
