Guj Govt To Revise Minimum Daily Wages Of Workers

| Updated: February 3, 2023 11:49

After a gap of eight years, the Gujarat government will now revise the minimum daily wages of workers in the state. While it has prepared a draft on revised wages for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers, it has already finalized the daily minimum wages for those employed in sweeping and cleaning services.

The minimum daily wage for workers of area A (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits) and area B (limits of other seven municipal corporations) will be Rs 452, while it will be Rs 441 for the other parts of the state.

The draft prepared by the state government has bifurcated the state into two zones, with Zone-I comprising areas within the limits of municipal corporations and Zone-II including all the other areas of the state. The draft also defines workers who will be classified under three categories -skilled, semiskilled and unskilled and has listed various industries.

Depending on which zone the workers are in, the draft proposes to increase the minimum daily wage of skilled workers, semi-skilled workers and unskilled workers by around Rs 100.

The government had last revised the minimum wages for workers on December 26, 2014.
