Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday invited a Dalit youth for lunch at Chief Minister Awas, Delhi. Kejriwal was accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann while addressing a gathering of youth in Ahmedabad.
After Kejriwal’s visit to an auto driver’s house for dinner, a Dalit youth Harsh Solanki asked him, “Would you visit a Valmika’s house for lunch?”. To this, Kejriwal said, “I will definitely visit your house, but before that I have a proposal for you, before every election we see politicians visiting a Dalit person’s house for lunch just for showoff. Till date, no politician has ever invited a Dalit person at his home for lunch. So, this time, why don’t you visit me in CM awas in Delhi and have lunch with my family?”
The Delhi CM even offered Solanki free air tickets for his family of five–his sister, brother and parents. Kejriwal even promised Solanki that next time when he visits Ahmedabad, he will visit Solanki’s house and have lunch with his family.
To this, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, “We would also want you to see the schools developed in Punjab.” Solanki was offered to halt in Punjab Bhawan and have first hand experience of government schools in Punjab.
Earlier, Kejriwal, accompanied by a couple of AAP leaders, travelled to the auto-rickshaw driver Vikram Dantani’s home in his three-wheeler. Vikram, a resident of the city’s Ghatlodia area, had requested that Kejriwal have dinner at his home.
